K. Eng & Co. ble etablert allerede i 1959. Virksomheten den gang var basert på import og fabrikasjon av lamper og skjermer. Første butikk ble åpnet i 1976 under navnet Norske Lysprodukter med filialer i Oslo, Gjøvik, Hunndalen, Bergen og Notodden. Den første Lampehuset-forretningen ble åpnet på Strømmen i 1983. Lampehuset som formelt kjedekonsept ble etablert våren 1994. Lampehuset er i dag eiet av selskapet K. Eng & Co.
